Law Undergraduate Program (Turkish)

General Information

Education offered in our Faculty is based on the “Turkish Legal System” and shows great similarities with the curricula of Law Faculties in Turkey. Diplomas conferred by our Faculty are all recognized and accredited by the Turkish Higher Education Board. The Faculty also offers an array of elective courses to provide the students with an enriched learning experience in different areas.

Education

The aim of law education is to bring up inquisitive legal professionals who act according to professional ethics and values and with a good command of the concepts, rules, principles and resources of the profession of law. Being well-aware of the importance of possessing a second language in the field of law, an intensive English language environment is offered to Law students in our Faculty. Additionally, along with theoretical courses, the Faculty aims to equip the students with skills helping them solve complicated legal problems with their judgmental and analytic abilities.

Facilities

Faculty of Law houses numerous classes, amphitheatres and computer laboratories where the educational activities take place, a reading hall, a center which provides advisorship services for students, offices for academic and administrative staff and a cafeteria catering for the food and beverage needs of the students. Eastern Mediterranean University library contains an array of resources, books, periodicals and electronic databases on law, all catering for the in-depth learning and research-related needs of the students. Additionally, our Faculty’s Prof. Dr. Esin Konanç Library offers a variety of basic in-house resources on law such as books, scripts and periodicals from Prof. Dr. Bakır Çağlar collection as well as books on general culture. Our Faculty also houses a computer and studying hall for students. Within the framework of the “Literate Lawyer Program”, which has been in practice since the 2010-2011 Academic Year Fall Semester, students take part in active discussions about books, films or theatre plays within the educational context. Additionally, students gain perspective on legal issues at the macro level through virtual court hearings taking place in our virtual court hall. Annually offered within the Faculty, the certicifation program on the “Violence Towards Women” aims to raise our students’ awareness on violence towards women as well as domestic violence and equip them with necessary skills on how to tackle such incidents of violence when they actually practice law.

Career Opportunities

Students successfully graduating from the Faculty of Law may pursue career opportunities as lawyers, judges, prosecutors and notaries. Additionally, they may undertake administrative duties as governors, district governors, inspectors and specialists. Law as a field of profession offers a wide spectrum of employment opportunities and a prestigious future for the graduates.
